A little bit about Tarot

Some of the first tarot cards date back to the 15th century in Italy. Over time, tarot evolved from a simple card game into a tool for divination. One of the most famous decks, the Waite-Smith Tarot, was co-created in 1909 by Arthur Edward Waite and Pamela Colman Smith. The two were members of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, a secret society dedicated to esoteric knowledge. Their deck remains widely used for readings today.

What is Tarot?

Tarot is a form of divination that picks up on current energies, including our subconscious and unconscious mind. It serves as a tool for clarity, insight, and guidance. However, it's important to remember that energy is fluid—we all have free will. If a reading reveals an outcome you don’t like, you have the power to change your path. Alongside tarot, many oracle decks exist with various themes. Unlike traditional tarot, oracle cards don’t follow a set structure. They provide guidance and self-reflection, offering messages from your higher self, angels, divine ancestors, or spiritual guides.

A Personal Tarot Experience

In 2023, I was dating someone who was meant to teach me a lesson. I was caught up in the idea of a potential relationship, and two days before a pivotal conversation, my tarot cards told me he would want to be exclusive with me. When I finally asked him, his answer was no.

This experience reinforced a fundamental truth about tarot—readings reflect the present energy, but energy can shift. I had heard that outcomes could change, but I didn’t truly understand it until I experienced it firsthand. Looking back now, I see why the tarot gave me those messages—it was a catalyst for me to move forward. That situation led me to join another dating app, and in doing so, I reconnected with a soulmate from my past/parallel lives —the very connection I am now healing from and releasing with love and gratitude. It’s a reminder that tarot doesn’t just predict outcomes; it guides us toward the experiences we need for our growth, even if we don’t see the full picture at the time.

Here are some insights into traditional tarot decks

The Major Arcana represents profound experiences, life lessons, and spiritual themes that shape one’s journey. Unlike the Minor Arcana, which reflects daily influences, these cards speak to deeper transformations and pivotal moments in life. Each card holds both light and shadow aspects, offering insight into growth, challenges, and the cycles we navigate.

Reversals can indicate delays, internalized lessons, or alternate perspectives on a situation, adding layers of meaning to a reading.

A powerful way to view the Major Arcana is through The Fool’s Journey—a metaphorical path of personal and spiritual evolution. The Fool (Card 0) is the main character, embarking on an adventure through each card, meeting new teachers, facing trials, and gaining wisdom. This journey culminates with The World (Card 21), symbolizing completion, integration, and enlightenment.
